Completing a job and taking payment
Taking payment is what completes a job. You can take payment from the day of the job - even before the start time if you finish early.
Taking payment
- 1
Open the job and tap Finish job & take payment
On a phone this button stays at the bottom of the screen. Before the start time it says Finish early & take payment. Before the day of the job it is greyed out - ask your company if payment must be taken sooner.
- 2
Anything extra today? - add extras, or tap Continue to payment
See Adding extras if you did more work.
- If your company records vehicle details: Type the vehicle's mileage - payment needs it. Continue to payment saves it for you if you haven't tapped Save.
- 3
Under How is the customer paying?, choose one
Back takes you one step back at a time. While a payment is going through the job can't be closed by accident.
- Cash - collect the amount shown, then tap Confirm cash received. This can't be undone.
- Saved card - charges the card the customer saved when they booked. Tap Charge card & complete.
- Pay link - shows a QR code the customer scans to pay on their own phone. You can also email or text the link.
- No charge - warranty work - only for warranty jobs. The customer isn't charged anything. Tap Continue, check the Are you sure? message, then tap Yes, complete with no charge. This can't be undone. Your pay for the job stays the same unless your company changes it.

Wait for the tick, then tap Done
The customer is emailed a receipt. The job moves to Completed and appears in your earnings.
Checking a job was paid
Finished jobs show how they were paid, so you can see at a glance that payment has been taken. Open Done today on your dashboard, or open the completed job.
- Payment taken by card (Stripe) or by payment link (Stripe) - with a Stripe ref (a code starting pi_). Quote it if a customer or your company asks about the payment.
- Cash taken - you collected cash. It counts against your balance until you hand it over.
- No charge (warranty) - the job was completed as warranty work.
Using a payment link
- Tap Generate link. Let the customer scan the QR code (it's a short link, so it scans easily in daylight), or use Send (email) or Text.
- You can only send it to the email and mobile on the booking. Your company can send it elsewhere.
- The app checks for the payment every few seconds and moves on by itself when they've paid. You can also tap Check payment.
- Once you've sent, copied or opened the link, Back leaves it open so the customer can still pay. To stop it, tap Cancel this link, then Yes, cancel it.
- Taking cash or the saved card instead closes an open link.
