Two-step verification
Every engineer signs in with their password plus a 6-digit code from an authenticator app. It protects your customers' details and your bank details. You set it up once, straight after sign-up.
Setting it up
- 1
Install an authenticator app on your phone
For example Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy or 1Password. They are free.
- 2
Tap Set up two-step verification
- 3
Add the account to your authenticator app
- On a computer: open the authenticator app on your phone and scan the QR code.
- On your phone: tap Open in authenticator app - it adds the account for you. If that doesn't open your app, tap Copy key and paste the key into the authenticator app ("Enter a setup key").
- 4
Type the 6-digit code the app shows and tap Confirm
You will see "Two-step verification is on." and carry on into the app.
Signing in from now on
After your email and password you will see Verify it's you. Open your authenticator app, type the current 6-digit code and tap Verify. Codes change every 30 seconds - if one is rejected, wait for the next.
New phone or lost phone
You can't turn two-step verification off yourself. Ask the owner of your company to reset it for you (only the owner can). See Lost or new phone. Next time you sign in you will be asked to set it up again on your new phone. Tip: before you swap phones, move your accounts across in the authenticator app (most have a transfer option).
