Setting the areas you cover
Customers can only book you if their address is inside one of your areas. When you sign up, your company's standard areas are usually added for you: drive-time areas from your home base with no travel charge. You can add radius zones (circles), territories (shapes you draw) or more drive-time bands. Drawing is easier on a computer.
The golden rule: press Save changes
Every Save or tick inside the map only changes your draft. Nothing is saved until you press Save changes at the top of the page - and leaving the page loses unsaved edits.
Adding a radius zone
- 1
Tap Add coverage (bottom right of the map), then Radius zone
- 2
Tap the map where the centre should go
There's no address search - zoom and move the map first. To move it later, tap the map again while the zone is open.
- 3
Set the Local zone size
From 1 to 60 miles. Customers inside it pay no travel charge.
- 4
Optionally switch on an Extended zone and/or Surcharge zone
Each ring adds more miles beyond the last, with its own Surcharge fee added to the customer's price. A suggested fee is shown - tap Use £… to accept it.
- 5
Tap Save in the box, then Save changes at the top
Drawing a territory
- 1
Tap Add coverage, then Territory
- 2
Tap or click to place the corners
Tap the first point again, or tap Save shape, to finish (on a computer you can also double-click or press Enter). You need at least 3 points.
- 3
Give it a Name and a Surcharge (0 for none), then tap Save
- 4
Press Save changes at the top
Editing and removing
- Tap a zone's numbered pin, a shape, or the pencil in Your areas to edit it.
- To reshape a drawn or drive-time area, open it and tap Adjust the edge (drag points). Drag a dot with a white ring to move that point, drag a small blue dot to add a point, or tap a point and then Remove point to take it out. Tap Keep this shape, then Save changes.
- Redraw shape starts the shape again from scratch.
- The bin and Delete remove an area straight away, with no "are you sure?". If you didn't mean it, reload the page before pressing Save changes.
- You must keep at least one area.
On a phone
- Use two fingers to move or zoom the map - one finger scrolls the page.
- Your areas is folded up; tap it to open.
- The drive-time tool is the easiest option on a phone.
- Stuck? Tap Stuck? Ask your company to set this up, say which towns or postcodes you want, and they'll do it for you.
Taking jobs near your booked jobs
Turn on Take jobs near my booked jobs (on this page) and, on a day you already have a job, customers just outside your areas can book you too - if they're within the minutes you pick (35 by default) of one of that day's jobs. They only see the days you're already nearby, at a time next to that job, and there's no travel charge. The first job of the day must be inside your own areas, and it never takes a postcode another engineer covers. The animation on the card shows how it works.
